Capsule for the Day
When we hear the word God, whom do we imagine Him to be? Do we imagine Him to be the Master, who all He does is to keep records of our wrongs, failings and awaits our death so that He can punish us? Or, do we see Him as the Father who knows us, loves us and cares for us?
To imagine God to be the Master leaves us bereft of our Father, son, daughter relationship. And this, to a great extent, screws up our lives. We begin to do stuff to please Him, just as a servant does stuff to please the Master. We then to wear the masks, hide our true selves... to look perfect.
There is nothing wrong in doing stuff to please God. But the problem is God doesn't want us to just do stuff. He wants us to be in a relationship with Him. He wants us to be His children not fearful servants. He wants us to be our true selves. HE WANTS TO FATHER US as we are.
