Capsule for the Day
It is very exciting, after a long day's journey, to find out that we have just a few more minutes to our destination. We tend to relax, and often, according to statistics is when many road accidents happen. We throw away caution and give in to the excitement of approaching our destination.
It is also very relieving when one overcome a challenge. Naturally, we celebrate our victory. We are excited. But it is also when we are most vulnerable and often it is when we are off-guard and we make promises and commitments that normally we wouldn't have made. Herod Antipas!
But it isn't just Herod Antipas (the man who out of excitement made a promise that resulted in the beheading of John the Baptist) who is a victim here. The Biblical David after the siege of the Ammonites threw away caution and sinned. The point here is caution is always needed.
