Capsule for the Day
Day by day, we are confronted with the reality of evil. We suffer untold pain and hurt even from the people we love. It breaks our hearts when the one we care so much about turn around to harm us. The temptation many a time is to revenge, an eye for an eye. Or we pray for their downfall.
But we don't overcome evil with hatred. We overcome evil with love. And true love doesn't wish the other evil... It weeps with those who weep and rejoices with those who rejoice. Jesus puts it this way "pray for those who hate you and do good to them". Although evil tarries, it destroys itself.
The Biblical David is one man who truly loved. Absalom, his son was out to kill him. David knew about it. He was the king, but he refused to lay his hands on Absalom. Rather, he loved Absalom. And even when evil befell Absalom, he didn't rejoice. He wept. Love bleeds, but it always heals itself.
