Capsule for the Day

Evelyn has had problems right from her childhood. She grew up with a chronic disease. Her pain was excruciating. There are nights she cried all through. Some nurses out of sympathy advised her to take the available option of assisted dying. Her family considered the option, they tried to convince her to take it considering her pain.

Evelyn was in a fix. She was caught between respect for the concern of her family and the reality of her pain. She was confused. It was dark for her. Her condition became worse. Her family felt for her. The nurses and doctors sympathized with her. She wept. After a long day of weeping, she sent for a priest. "What does all this mean", she asked.

"It means life", the priest said. He went on, "the One who is the Life, didn't have it easy. As such, those of us living His Life shouldn't expect to have it easy. So, go through your calvary. Unite your suffering with His. Immitate Him who bore His pain to the end." "These words", Evelyn said, "helped her to rise from despair to the New Life of Hope".
