Capsule for the Day

We live in a world of automation and instant gratification. Everything seems to happen in nano seconds. It is a fast and smart world. It is hard in this kind of world to be patient, to wait and let things happen in God’s time. It is hard to live out Jesus's parable of the sower and mustard seed in "a now world". It is hard to sow and let things grow. We want fruits!

But the parables are about the Kingdom that contrasts our world. The language of this Kingdom is patience and the Greek word Tharreõ which in 2 Corinthians 5:6-10 means "having the certainty in God’s promises". One of these promises is stated in Ezekiel 17:24 "I, the Lord, have spoken, and I will do it". The Lord does the growing. We sow and wait.

This is very countercultural as we have no control over the duration of the growth. Christ is aware of this deep seated desire of humanity to control and to determine. But He wants us to let go of control and "let God do what God alone can do". This is hard. However, when we let God do what He alone can do, it frees us up to do what we should do.
