Sculptures are beautiful pieces of art. They have a way of drawing us out of ourselves and leading us on a journey of wonder and awe. They are beautiful. They capture our imagination. They fascinate us. They communicate much more than what appears to the senses. Wow! We say the word without realizing it when we are admiring sculptures.
We admire their beauty, but I doubt if we would admire the process that reveals the beauty. For every sculpture passes through the hands of a sculptor. The raw material is melted, cast into a certain mould and then the sculptor chisels out the rough edges. The process isn't admirable to the senses, but it is necessary to reveal the intended beauty.
In a sense, we are all raw material in the Hands of God, the Sculptor. He does with us what every sculptor does: He melts us, casts us into a certain mould that we may not like nor want, and He then does the painful work of chiseling out the rough edges. If we trust Him and let Him do His job, He brings out the beauty that all will admire and so glorify Him.
