Capsule for the Day
We have a King. His throne is the cross. His crown is a wreath of thorns. He has no fanfare; "no trumpets" to usher him in, only a crowd that abused Him; leaders that jeered at Him; and soldiers that mocked Him. What a wretched King? He was born poor, and died poor.
He left us nothing, except His Name. By His Name, every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that He is Lord. By His Name, we are healed of our sicknesses. By His Name, we are set free from the slavery of sin. By His Name, we are called sons and daughters of God. By His Name, we are alive, and we can face tomorrow.
What a Name! And what a Great King He is! He is so Great that He makes us kings, too, through Baptism. We are kings? Yes! But not as the world wants us to be. We are kings as He is King. Our kingdom is "now". We are to live as He lives: reaching out to heal, to set free, to serve... a friend of sinners, they called Him.
