Capsule for the Day
In a way, the biblical David could be described as the forgotten Child. He was never at the forefront. He wasn't always mentioned at dinner table. Imagine, his father Jesse even forgot he had a son called David until Samuel reminded him. David was forgotten by humans, but not by God.
Speaking of God not forgetting us, Isaiah puts it this way "Can a mother forget her child at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I (God) will not forget you" (Isaiah 49:15). A promise made by a Father who keeps His promise.
In David, He fulfilled His promise by making David, the forgotten child, King. And He continues to fulfil this promise in the lives of many of us. Sometimes, we may feel forgotten, but that does not mean that God has forgotten us. For He will never forget us - "the apples of His eye".
