Capsule for the Day
There is a growing attitude of complacency and indifference in society. Many of us are just not interested in what happens in and around us. The unwritten principle seems to be "provided it doesn't affect me, it doesn't concern me".
We don't care. We are indifferent! It is a coping mechanism for many. But where is the sense of being a brother or sister keeper? If all we worry about is what happens to or in "the me", how can we identify and care for the "me", when there is no "us"?
Dietrich Bonhoeffer has a saying "they came for the Jews, we said we are not Jewish and we did nothing... now, they have come for us and there is no one left to fight for us". What a shame! Somehow, we have to look beyond "the me" and take interest in "the us".
