Capsule for the Day
From the crowds, she could see her Son. She could see His wounds. She could feel the pain, the agony and the torture He bore. It was excruciating. Words can't describe the feeling. Cruelty is an understatement. But she summed up the courage to meet Him; to look into His eyes... courage Son!
What sort of a mother will put up with such utter cruelty? What sort of a mother would allow her only son to be treated so despicably? Her own flesh! Her own blood! She bore it all. No words! No sound! But both hearts spoke. Was this what Simeon meant "a sword will pierce your own heart"?
One can only imagine what was going on in Mary? The pain she bore in meeting her Son. It is worst, they say, to see a loved one going through pain and the lover can't help let alone take away the pain. It must have been terrible for Mary. But she bore it all, not just for her own good but also ours.
