Homily - Daily Capsule - Fr Francis Afu

Capsule for the Day

In one of her tracts entitled  Questions, Asa asked, "...why there is so much religion and there is so little love, would we have ever get to know the truth someday." It is a paradox. No, a scandal to have many religions and still experience the scale of "'man's  inhumanity on 'man'" in the world.

Ordinarily, we should expect the contrary. With so much religion, there should be so much love as all religions preach love in one way or another. But like Asa, will we ever get to know the truth someday? Perhaps we know the Truth, but we don’t just want to accept Him.

The Truth isn't an idea, a set of data we collect or something we construct through rational consensus. The Truth is a person, Christ Jesus. To know the Truth is to be one with Him, who is love. And when we know Him, then we can truly love. So, the problem isn't the so many religions, but the “we" who profess religion.
