Capsule for the Day
Lent is a great season in the Church's life. It is time we spend as individuals and together as a community to ask ourselves the big questions of life. How have I lived? And how can I live better? What aspect of my life needs nourishing and what part of me needs pruning, or cutting off?
In attempting these questions, we come to acknowledge our sinfulness. "Lord, I have sinned against heaven and earth, I do not deserve to be called Your son, Your daughter any more; treat me now like one of your paid servants". Sin makes us forfeit our sonship or "daughtership".
But Grace redeems us and restores our relationship with God, Our Father. The beauty of Grace is it cannot be exhausted. There is no sin of ours that exhausts the Grace of God's mercy and His love for us. However, our pride can block us from Grace. Let's turn in humility to Grace this Lent.
