Capsule for the Day
He fell, not once, but many times. The first fall was terrible, the second, was definitely horrible. The bruises, the pain; He is a loner now. No Simon of Cyrene! No Veronica! The soldiers had a field day. They flogged Him. Kicked and dragged Him off the ground. The Almighty is powerless.
He felt forsaken. No! He felt what it is like for us to reject God and choose to live independently of Him. He felt the horror of being in sin. Sin is our fall from "the life with God" to the life of "I don't need God anymore". What a fall to choose to live without God? However, He staggered, and rose.
But sin doesn't make God stop loving us. Nor does it make Him forsake us, as many might think. More importantly, God doesn't keep records of our sins. For He is more interested in our return to Grace than in seeing us being punished. Can we allow Christ to raise us from our falls?
