Capsule for the Day
What a gruesome sight to behold! He was bleeding... staggering... falling... crowned with thorns... the women saw it all. They even saw Him being scourged. Imagine how frustrated they were when they couldn't help Him. They wept. Yes, they wept for humanity's shared-callousness.
He was right, "weep not for me", He said, "but for your children's children". Could they have imagined He was referring to us, our world and our time? Imagine the injustice many of us suffer in the so called just societies. Think of the scale of man inhumanity to man... Neoslavery in democracies!
Why wouldn't they weep for us when we have thrown away God; thrown away our values in the name of civilisation. Isn't this insanity? Frank Sheed is right "to say there is no God is to deny reality and the denial of reality is the definition of insanity". So, we have to weep for our insanity.
