Capsule for the Day
What we perceive or imagine about a person can either enhance our knowledge of that person or distort it. Truth be told, 9 out of 10 times, our perception of a person is false and unfounded. This is true for us as it is true for Christ. What the Jews perceived the Messiah to be was in contrast to Christ's.
He is the Messiah who rules not from the Palace and on the throne, but on the Cross. He is the Messiah who lays down His life for others, not one for whom others lay down their lives. He is the Messiah who bears pain and redeems us through pain. He is the Messiah who tells our stories in His story... History.
So, He allowed Himself to be nailed to the Cross not because He is less the Messiah, but because that was His throne, His strength... "It is when I am weak that I am strong". Thus, He gave pain and suffering a new meaning, leaving us a lesson on how to live with our own pain and limitations.
