Capsule for the Day
He groaned inwardly and outwardly. They raise the Cross, and He cried from it "my God, my God, why have You forsaken me"? By His sides there were two criminals. One was in denial, he mocked and spited Christ - "you saved others", he said, "save yourself and save us". No empathy!
The other wasn't in denial. He accepted he did wrong. He could feel the pain and the groaning of Christ; and he rebuked the other criminal "you don't even fear God", he said, "for we are suffering justly for what we have done, but this man, has done no wrong... Jesus, remember me....
Denial, and playing the blame game blind our eyes to the Good. They also make us deaf to the Good Story. And we see this in the first criminal. But the second criminal was responsible. He received the promise "Truly I say to you, today you shall be with Me in Paradise". And what a great promise!
