Homily - Daily Capsule - Fr Francis Afu

Capsule for the Day

Before Jesus died, He looked down from the cross and saw His Mother. He could hear her groaning... Simeon's word has come to pass... a sword has pierced her soul. He could also feel her cares and grief... the One she loves has been taken away from her, and she will be left alone.

Jesus knew Mary's struggles. But He also knew John's worries and disappointments. John's world is shattered. He believed Jesus was the Christ... John loved Jesus... and now, the one he loved is taken away from him. Life, meaning, purpose all shattered, dark and twisted.

But Jesus wasn't indifferent to their plights. He healed their wounds by calling them to a new relationship... "woman, behold your son (John) and son, behold your mother (Mary). Even in His agony, He was still doing good, healing and restoring life to those broken and shattered like you and I.
