Capsule for the Day

Gratitude is a powerful healing balm for wounds. But the hurt and the pain of the wounds often don't allow us to see the good in life. We concentrate on our wounds, the hurt, the pain... and we gradually get immersed into "the poor me" syndrome. O dear! It only gets worse... and we despair!

But gratitude brings in the light. It gives us hope that feeds our faith... faith in the healing power of the Risen One. Faith that helps us to appreciate the present and enables us to trust the promise "with God all things are possible". Faith that heals wounds... restores life.

We need this faith, but we have to be grateful. We have to appreciate not only the good in life but the reality of our hurts, our pains, our wounds. For gratitude frees us from our obsession with our wounds, and opens us to the bigger picture, the good we often don't see. Gratitude frees us for healing.
