Capsule for the Day
Grace in layman's terms means God’s Riches At Christ's Expense. There is deep meaning in each of those words. In Grace, God gives nothing less than Himself. Be it actual grace or sanctifying grace, it is always Jesus' redemptive action at work. It is simply the gift of unmerited favours.
The Theology of Grace could be very difficult to comprehend in our world of earning merits. It is hard to get our head around God favouring us when we don't deserve it. We are good at passing judgement on who deserves what. But Grace goes beyond human judgement and upholds God’s mercy.
In His mercy, He doesn't give us the punishment we deserve. In His Grace, He gives us the favours, the blessings and the gifts we don't deserve. St. Paul puts this beautifully well "where sin increased, grace increased all the more". This is the mystery of God's way, which isn't our way. It's all Grace.
