Capsule for the Day
Memories are powerful. They can either make us or mar us. It all depends on the content. If we have bad memories, they leave us angry, broken and bitter. But if we have good memories, they leave us grateful, whole and happy. We recall good memories to keep them alive.
Memories also help us to stay connected to people. For the Israelites, memories helped them to be faithful to God. Each time they rememberred what the Lord had done, they become humble, would go to Him and worship. Good memories have "soul". They keep relationships alive.
We all value good memories and we would love to have them. But they don't just happen. The Israelites for instance had to depend on God to experience events that left them with good memories. It was always "remember O Israel what the Lord had done..." Can we also remember...?
