Capsule for the Day
When we do something wrong, we are tempted to judge and condemn ourselves. Sometimes, we even "run and hide" away from God thinking by so doing we wouldn't be confronted by the consequences of our actions. In Genesis 28 we find Jacob on the run not just from God but also from Esau.
Esau was his brother. Jacob betrayed him. He actually back stabbed him. Jacob couldn't stand him. Besides, he could sense that Esau was angry and may come for his life. He ran. But God found Jacob. God found him at his weakest moment, and renewed the covenant He made with Abraham.
Why would God renew the covenant in that circumstance? The answer is simple: "the God of Abraham is the God who keeps His promises in spite of our infidelity". He was with Jacob even when Jacob was running away from Him. He didn't desert Jacob. And Jacob, in turn, worshipped God.
