Homily - Capsule for Good Friday

Capsule for the Day

The sun is dark. The clouds gathered; not to rain, but to wail: to cry for the One who healed the sick, raised the dead, forgave sinners, brought in the outsiders; who fed thousands; who went about doing good. He was indeed the Son of God. How come no one remembered the good He did?

John 18:1-19:42 tells a dark story. It tells a story that resembles our own stories. How many times, have we been betrayed by our loved ones? How many times have people who could have defended us failed us for fear for losing their positions. How many times have we been crucified?

Good Friday tells the Story. It opens our eyes to watch our own stories unfold. But the Good in the Day offers us hope. That the One who tells our stories isn't conquered. Rather, He conquers, not by returning evil for evil, but by saying "forgive them, for they don't know what they are doing".
